Alvaro Cuervo became a non-executive member of the advisory board in 2016. Alvaro has an extensive experience in economics and finance, having chaired these disciplines at several renowned universities worldwide, namely in Spain, Mexico and the US, and a proven track record in banking and industry, having held several executive and non-executive board memberships namely in Banco de Asturias (Deputy Chairman), Banco Occidental, Banca Masaveu (Chairman), BA Glass, Thyssen Industry Group, Rio Tinto, Sonae, among others. He is currently a Professor Emeritus at the University of Madrid, Chairman of CUNEF University, and member of the Sonae global advisory board, the consulting council on privatization of the Spanish government and the board of directors of Aenor. Alvaro Cuervo has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Madrid, and awards from several institutions in Business Economics.
